Why Calibrate?
Every linear measurement depends on an accurate surface from which final dimensions are taken. A resurfaced plate will insure a high degree of flatness, which makes them ideal bases for mounting sophisticated mechanical, electronic, and optical gaging systems. Why waste money on tighter production tolerances when a surface plate with guaranteed accuracy will allow increased working tolerances.
To insure accuracy each granite plate should be calibrated yearly. This helps maintain dimensional control and, at the same time, secure the longest possible use of your plate. Calibration will include:

- Complete cleaning of plate - removing any grease, dirt or any other foreign substances that accumulate.
- Complete calibration for repeatability and overall flatness is performed on each plate.
- Providing the plate is within tolerance, a certificate of calibration is prepared and signed, providing traceability to the National Bureau of Standards.
- If required, your plate will be resurfaced using the highly accurate diamond compound and dry lapping process. All surface plates are then wet-lap finished to enhance wear life.
